National News: Raja Raghuvasnshi Murder Case: Sonam Raghuvanshi Confession: Indore's newlywed Sonam Raghuvanshi has confessed to plotting the murder of her husband, Raja Raghuvanshi. This sensational disclosure has been made by sources of the Special Investigation Team (SIT) of Meghalaya Police. Sonam had planned to kill her husband during their honeymoon in Meghalaya's Shillong. The incident happened on 23 May, when the couple was trekking in the forests of Meghalaya.

The couple tied the knot last month in Indore. Just a week after the marriage, on 20 May, both arrived in Meghalaya for their honeymoon. On 21 May, they stayed at Balaji Guest House in Shillong. The next day, on 22 May they rented a scooty and left for Cherrapunji (Sohra). On 23 May, they went to see the Double Decker Living Root Bridge near Nongrit village. This is where the honeymoon turned into a horrific conspiracy.

Sonam Raghuvanshi reveals the conspiracy

According to the Special Investigation Team (SIT), Raja's wife Sonam Rajghuvanshi planned the murder with 4 others, including her alleged lover Raj Kushwaha and three friends. Her lover Raj Kushwaha worked in Sonam's family business in Madhya Pradesh's Indore. He did not go to Shillong to avoid suspicion but maintained contact between the killers and Sonam. The three killers reached Shillong by different routes. They were identified through CCTV footage, train tickets and Aadhaar cards.

On 23 May, the killers joined the couple on a trek. Guide Albert PD saw them talking in Hindi. He offered help, but they refused and chose a deserted route. Investigators say Sonam led Raja to the valley on the pretext of a beautiful photo spot. Attackers were hiding in the forest when they arrived and attacked Raja with sharp weapons. Sonam also allegedly assisted in the crime. Raja’s body was dumped in a ditch and was recovered on 2 June.

Sonam’s arrest

After the murder, Sonam travelled from Shillong to Guwahati and then to Indore by train. From there, she went to Ghazipur in Uttar Pradesh, where she surrendered on 8 June. The police detained her at the Nandaganj police station. So far, 4 more accused were also arrested by police. They all were brought to Shillong and produced in court. The court sent Sonam along with 4 other accused to 8 days of police custody.
